Epoxy Floor Coating Calculator
How much floor coating do you need, and how many complete kits should you buy? Plan a garage, basement or workshop project using your product’s stated coverage.
Quantity and purchasing estimate only. This tool does not select an epoxy chemistry or certify that a concrete slab is suitable for coating.
Your epoxy floor estimate
complete kits to buy
gal planning quantity including allowance
- Physical floor area
- sq ft
- Number of coats
- Total coating area
- sq ft
- Entered product coverage per coat
- sq ft / gal
- Coating before allowance
- gal
- Waste / extra allowance

Purchase rounding uses unrounded required volume. Even a small amount over a whole-kit boundary requires another kit. Unused capacity is capacity remaining after reserving the allowance-adjusted amount, not guaranteed recoverable leftover mixed coating.
Estimated purchase cost
From floor area to whole kits
- physical floor × coats
- coating area ÷ coverage
- base volume + allowance
- planning quantity → whole kits
Coverage sensitivity examples
See how the estimate changes if actual field coverage differs from the number you entered. Your product label/data sheet remains the primary planning source. These ±20% examples are not product specifications or a porous-concrete adjustment.

Project and shopping summary
Quantity does not determine how much material should be mixed at one time. Epoxy can have limited pot life after Parts A and B are combined. Follow the manufacturer’s mixing, induction and working-time instructions. Buying several kits does not mean mixing them all simultaneously.
Results are rounded for readability. Calculations use unrounded values.
What is the mixed volume of a kit?
A two-part kit may contain separate Part A and Part B containers. Enter the TOTAL MIXED COATING VOLUME produced by one complete kit, as stated by the manufacturer—not the volume of Part A alone. If a complete kit produces 1.5 gallons of usable mixed coating, enter 1.5 gal per kit. This calculator does not determine component mixing ratios or derive mixed yield from component sizes.
One product at a time
Primer, base epoxy and clear topcoat can have different products, coverage rates and coat counts. Calculate each product separately using its own stated coverage; do not combine an entire system into one assumed rate. If first/subsequent-coat coverage differs, calculate those coats separately. Decorative flakes are a separate material and are not estimated here.
Coverage and allowance
There is no universal epoxy coverage rate. Porosity and surface profile can affect field coverage; use the rate for your surface/system from the product label or technical data sheet. No old-, porous-, rough- or etched-concrete multiplier is applied. The entered allowance is a planning reserve, not a guarantee that surface absorption or application losses are covered.
Understanding the estimate
This is a quantity and purchasing estimator, not a concrete-suitability check. Successful coating can depend on moisture conditions, contamination, existing coatings/sealers, surface profile, concrete condition, temperature, humidity, preparation, product chemistry, mixing ratio, pot life and cure conditions. Follow the selected product’s technical data sheet and installation instructions. The tool does not prescribe acid etching, grinding, moisture thresholds or coating chemistry.
