How the Gravel Calculator Works
After estimating the gravel required, compare gravel bags with bulk delivery, including supplier delivery charges and the correct loose or compacted volume basis. For a project that is not rectangular, calculate gravel volume for a round or triangular area and confirm the depth and purchasing basis before using the supplier quantity. If the gravel is a base for a paved patio or walkway, estimate pavers for a patio or walkway separately; the gravel estimate does not count the surface pavers.
The calculator finds the volume of your project from its length, width, and depth. It then converts that volume to cubic yards and estimates the weight using the selected gravel type.
A 10% allowance is also shown to help account for compaction, settling, uneven ground, and small measurement differences.
