How the Paver Calculator Works
The calculator divides the total project area by the face area of one paver. It then adds your selected waste allowance and rounds up to a whole paver.
A 10% waste allowance is a useful starting point for ordinary layouts. Projects with diagonal patterns, curves, borders, or numerous cuts may require 15% or more.
Base and Bedding Sand
If the specified base uses gravel, compare gravel bags with bulk delivery from the planned base quantity and supplier basis; do not add an extra-material allowance twice. For a separate winter-maintenance plan, estimate ice-melt product for a paved surface only for a product and rate permitted for the installed surface; paver quantity does not establish deicer compatibility.
The base and sand estimates use the entered project area and material depths. Actual requirements can vary with grading, soil conditions, compaction, and excavation depth.
