Pesticide Mixing Calculator

Calculate how much pesticide concentrate is needed for one sprayer tank or multiple batches using the mixing rate printed on the product label.

Read the Product Label First

Enter only a mixing rate permitted by the pesticide label. This calculator performs unit math; it does not determine which pesticide, application rate, or treatment method is appropriate. The product label and local requirements always control.

Product Label Mixing Rate

Example: If the label says 1.5 fluid ounces per gallon, enter 1.5, select fluid ounces, and enter 1 gallon. If it says 4 fluid ounces per 2 gallons, enter 4 and 2.

General Measuring Summary

Enter the product-label rate and sprayer information above.

“Finished volume” means the final amount after the concentrate and water have been combined. Do not automatically add the full tank volume of water and then add concentrate on top of it. Follow the product’s required mixing order and instructions.

Liquid Measurement Reference

Measurement Approximate Equivalent
1 U.S. fluid ounce 2 tablespoons
1 tablespoon 3 teaspoons
1 U.S. fluid ounce 29.57 milliliters
1 tablespoon 14.79 milliliters
1 teaspoon 4.93 milliliters

How to Calculate a Pesticide Mixing Rate

Begin with the exact dilution rate printed on the product label. Convert that rate to an amount per gallon, then multiply it by the sprayer’s finished tank volume.

Concentrate per tank = label concentrate amount ÷ label gallons × tank gallons

Example Pesticide Mixture

Suppose a label permits 1.5 fluid ounces of concentrate per gallon and you are preparing a 2-gallon sprayer. Multiply 1.5 by 2. The batch requires 3 fluid ounces of concentrate, with water added according to the label to produce 2 gallons of finished solution.

1.5 fluid ounces per gallon × 2 gallons = 3 fluid ounces per tank

What Does Finished Spray Volume Mean?

Finished spray volume is the total mixture after water and concentrate are combined. If the target is 2 gallons of finished solution, the final mixture should total 2 gallons unless the product label gives different directions.

Why Does the Number of Batches Matter?

A small sprayer may need to be refilled several times to complete a large treatment. Multiplying the concentrate needed per tank by the number of batches helps estimate the total product required for the job.

Total concentrate = concentrate per tank × number of batches

Use Dedicated Measuring Equipment

Use pesticide-compatible measuring equipment and never reuse food utensils, drinking cups, or kitchen containers. Measure carefully, wear the personal protective equipment specified by the label, and keep pesticides away from children, pets, food, wells, drains, and waterways.

Can You Use More Concentrate for Better Results?

No. Increasing the concentration beyond a permitted label rate can create hazards, damage plants or surfaces, waste product, and violate pesticide requirements. More concentrate does not necessarily provide better control.

Pesticide Mixing Safety

Read the complete label before mixing or applying any pesticide. Confirm the target pest, treatment site, permitted application rate, personal protective equipment, reentry period, storage, cleanup, and disposal instructions. Never mix products together unless their labels specifically permit it.
